STEAMED
Steaming is N90’s favourite way to cook sweet Potato.
INGREDIENTS
Peeled and diced sweet Potato
INSTRUCTIONS
- Add plenty of water to your pot and slowly bring it to a boil
- Add the sweet Potato to the steamer basket
- Place a firm-fitting lid on your steamer
- Cook for a minimum of five minutes
- Sweet Potato is cooked when the fork can push through quickly.
- Remove and serve hot or cold.
ADDITIONAL FLAVOURING
Sprinkle some salt and pepper over the potatoes
Add some chopped fresh parsley
Sprinkle some cinnamon over the potatoes when they are hot
OVEN BAKED
INGREDIENTS
Whole sweet Potato with skin
INSTRUCTIONS
- Scrub the Potato thoroughly so that the skin is clean and free from any nasties
- Pierce potatoes in several places
- Warm oven to 200′ Celsius
- Evenly distribute potatoes in a baking tray
- Cook for approximately one hour (cooking time may vary due to the different shapes and thicknesses of the Sweet Potato)
- Sweet Potato is cooked when you can quickly push a fork through
- Serve and slice open on a serving plate
ADDITIONAL FLAVOURING
Add some butter to the sliced sweet Potato.
Sprinkle some salt and pepper over the potatoes
Add some chopped fresh parsley
Sprinkle some cinnamon over the potatoes
MASHED
INGREDIENTS
Peeled and diced sweet Potato
INSTRUCTIONS
- Add enough water in a pot to cover the sweet potatoes
- Boil the potatoes until they are soft
- Place the potatoes into a large mixing bowl
- Mash the potatoes with a blender to an even consistency
ADDITIONAL FLAVOURING
Add a dollop of butter as they are being mashed
Add salt
Smokey paprika will bring out some extra flavour
Some fresh herbs, such as parsley, are an excellent addition.
